Ucore RapidSX Commercialization and Demonstration Facility (Kingston)

Ucore's RapidSX rare earth separation demonstration facility in Kingston, Ontario. A $4.2 million NRCan CMRDD project (announced February 5, 2024; eligible expenditure period September 22, 2023 to March 31, 2025) demonstrated RapidSX under simulated commercial conditions, processing approximately 13-15 tonnes of total rare earth oxides over six months to produce high-purity neodymium and praseodymium samples. On October 31, 2025, Ucore announced CONDITIONAL approval of up to $36.3 million (up to $26.3 million non-repayable from NRCan's Global Partnerships Initiative plus up to $10 million from FedDev Ontario) for a first-of-its-kind commercial samarium and gadolinium refinery in Kingston; that funding remains subject to program conditions, due diligence, and negotiation and execution of a Contribution Agreement, which had not been executed as of the announcement, so the commercial Sm/Gd line is recorded here only as an announced plan in claims (Sm and Gd oxides are outside this database's material vocabulary).
